CHICAGO, IL – R. Kelly has reportedly been arrested in his hometown of Chicago. According to NBC 4 New York, the embattled R&B star was taken into custody on Thursday (July 11) by NYPD detectives and Homeland Security Investigation agents on federal sex crime charges, including sex trafficking.
More details on the case are expected to be revealed on Friday (July 12).
In February, Kelly was charged with aggravated sexual abuse involving four women. Three of those women were minors at the time of the alleged abuse.
The multiplatinum-selling artist pleaded not guilty and was released from Chicago’s Cook County Jail after posting bail.
The spotlight started to shine heavily on Kelly following the release of Lifetime’s docu-series Surviving R. Kelly.
In March, Kelly sat down with CBS This Morning for what turned into an explosive interview with host Gayle King. Throughout their conversation, Kelly maintained his innocence across the board.
